Since his youthful registration as a conscientious objector to war to his present duty as the Hindu American Foundation California Advocacy Director, responsible for education, policy implementation and community building in the Golden State, Easan Katir has always advocated non-violent peace. He is a member of Saiva Siddhanta Church, whose projects include Hinduism Today magazine, the San Marga Iraivan Temple, and the Hindu Heritage Endowment.  For three years, he chaired the Business Development Committee of the International House Board, and served as a Finance Commissioner for the city of Davis, California.  He is a director of the Elder William Brewster Society.
